Tampere Festival of Light's 60th anniversary year opens in spectacular style

24.9.2026 The 60th anniversary year of the Tampere Festival of Light will begin in spectacular fashion at Koskipuisto Park on 23 October at 7 p.m. The Opening Festival features the chamber opera Her Voice, Flow of Equality art trail, Dancing Waters, and the National celebration of Gymnastics on 1 November. All programme is free of charge.

Dancing Fountains and the Festival of Light opening dazzled at Koskipuisto Park

The 2025 Festival of Light kicked off in Koskipuisto Park on 24 October 2025. The evening featured captivating performances by Hanna Pakarinen and Samuli Edelmann, culminating in the enchanting Dancing Fountains show. The mesmerizing Dancing Fountains lit up the park every evening through 2 November, delighting visitors of all ages.

Light gallery 2025: Tove Jansson’s first Moomin story as light art in Tampere

In honor of the Moomin 80th anniversary, Tampere Art Museum’s collection artist Tove Jansson was chosen as the Light Gallery artist of 2025.

What is Tampere Festival of Light?

Tampere Festival of Light is an annual festival celebrating the darkest season of the year. During the festival, Tampere city centre is illuminated with a collection of light art and projections. The first ever Tampere Festival of Light was organized in 1966, and it lasted three weeks. Today people are able to enjoy the lights throughout the dark fall and winter season, from late October until the beginning of January. The 61st Festival of Light takes place in Tampere city centre from October 2026.
