Tampere Festival of Light brightens the city from 24 October – Opening ceremony on 25 October

23.10.2024 The Tampere Festival of Light will once again bring light and joy to the darkest time of the year with a variety of illuminations and light events. This year, the festival kicks off with the Window Walkabout art event, which will bring light art to the windows of the city centre from 24 October to 3 November. The opening ceremony will be held on Friday 25 October at 7-7.30 pm in Koskipuisto park. All events are free of charge.

Window Walkabout major event starts and offers new type of screen time

17.10.2024 Window Walkabout is the biggest art event ever in the Tampere Region, with windows in urban areas serving as the stage for the audience in the streets in Tampere and 19 other towns and municipalities in the Tampere Region. This year, the festival kicks off with the Window Walkabout event, which will light up the city centre from 24 October to 3 November with works of art and lighting installed in windows. 7.10.2024 The Window Walkabout project offers a whole new kind of screen time in October and November. The glow of up to 200 illuminated art-filled windows in the Tampere Region invites you to explore what kind of worlds are taking form behind the screens. The Festival of Light opening in central Tampere will feature 60 windows from 24 to 26 October. The windows are to be found of the map at address ruuduntakaa.fi.

Window Walkabout will brighten the autumn with impressive art windows

20.9.2024 Window Walkabout is the largest art event ever in the Tampere Region, where windows in the municipalities will serve as the stage for the audience on the streets. In addition of being the opening event of the Tampere Festival of Light from Thursday to Saturday 24–26 October, it will cover 19 partner municipalities in October and November, which means that up to 200 lighted art windows can be viewed in Tampere Region (a.k.a. Pirkanmaa).

27.5.2024 Taking place in 20 municipalities starting from 24th of October, Window Walkabout is the largest art event ever arranged in the Tampere Region (i.e. Pirkanmaa). The series of free art events inside windows will be realised by up to a thousand cultural actors, and it is the culmination point of the three-year a regional culture development project Operation Pirkanmaa.

Tampere Festival of Light is back – opening ceremony on 27 October

23.10.2023 The traditional Tampere Festival of Light will once again light up the city during the darkest time of the year from 27 October. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday 27 October from 7 to 7.30 pm in Koskipuisto. Tampere Festival of Light will end on 7 January 2024, except for the Light Gallery, which will continue until 10 March 2024.

9.1.2023 The 57th Tampere Festival of Light illuminated the streets of Tampere city centre with hundreds of magical light spheres, street projections and exciting light art during the darkest time of the year from 28th October 2022 to 8th January 2023. The Light Gallery exhibition Muumit ja talven taika produced by the Tampere Art Museum, will continue until March 12.
