People’s Celebration of Gymnastics concludes the opening festival programme
The People’s Celebration of Gymnastics will bring the Tampere Festival of Light opening festival programme to a close on Sunday 1 November at 6 pm.
In the festival’s grand finale, gymnasts will march in a procession from Hämeenpuisto to Koskipuisto, where participants will perform a collective gymnastics display to the accompaniment of the Dancing Waters installation.
The event is produced by the Jumppatytöt Theatre Group, recognised with the Finnish State Award for Public Information. The People’s Celebration of Gymnastics highlights the significance of women’s gymnastics as part of Finland’s history of equality and the development of universal and equal suffrage.
