Children’s Night Bug Art Lights Up Tampere’s Festival of Light
The enchanting world of nighttime insects comes alive this autumn as selected works from the Night Bugs children's drawing competition is unveiled as part of Tampere’s Festival of Light on Friday, October 24. Organized by the WeGenerate project and Children’s Cultural Center Rulla, the competition invited children aged 3–11 to imagine and illustrate the mysterious bugs that might inhabit a garden after dark.
The winning artworks will be featured in a unique lighting installation at Laikku Stage area, designed to enhance the comfort, walkability, and accessibility of the area. The lighting is implemented by the City of Tampere, and WhiteNight Lighting Oy has been involved in the design. Light installation will remain on display until February 22, 2026.
In celebration of all participants, every submitted drawing will be showcased in the Children’s Gallery exhibition at Cultural House Laikku’s Corridor Gallery, running from October 24 to November 23, 2025. The exhibition highlights the creativity of young artists and aims to bring children’s art into the heart of the cityscape.
This initiative is part of Rulla’s 20th anniversary celebration, marking two decades of fostering children’s cultural experiences in Tampere.
Join us in celebrating creativity, community, and the magic of the night!
